[영어] 영어 구두점에 대하여 알아보자

안녕하세요 영어 말해주는 데이비드 입니다. 

오늘은 영어 구두점에 대하여 알아보도록 합시다.

주로 에세이에 많이 사용되어 말해 본적은 없을 거라 생각됩니다, 

그래서 간단하게 사진을 통해서 정리해 보도록 하겠습니다.

먼저 구두점은 영어로 어떻게 말할까요?

Punctuation 입니다.

영영사전에 대하여 확인해 볼까요?

Punctuation is the use of symbols such as full stops or periods, commas, or question marks to divide written words into sentences and clauses.

구두점은 문자언어를 문장이나 절에 사용하기 위해서 온점, 콤마, 물음표 등과 같은 기호를

사용하는 것입니다.

첫 번째는 하이픈 입니다.

-hyphen 으로 쓰입니다. 

한번 영영사전을 살펴 보도록 하겠습니다.

                  A hyphen is the punctuation sign used to join words together to make

 a compound, as in `left-handed'. 

하이픈은 left-handed 처럼 단어가 함께 복합하여 만들어진 구두점 입니다.

People also use a hyphen to show that the rest of a word is on the next lin사람들은 남은단어가 다음줄로 이어질때 하이픈을 사용합니다.

온점은 full stop 및 periods 라고 쓰입니다.

주제에 관하여 더이상 말할 것이 없을 때 강조하기 위해서 사용 됩니다.

An apostrophe is the mark ' when it is written to indicate that one or more letters have been left outof a word, as in `isn't' and `we'll'. It is also added to nouns to form possessives, as in `Mike's car'a

아포스트로피는 'isn't'와 'we'll'에서처럼 한 개 이상의 글자가 단어에서 제외되었음을 나타내기 위해 쓰여질 때 '을 표시합니다. 또한 '마이크의 차'와 같이 명사에 추가하여 소유자를 형성합니다

bracket

If you say that someone or something is in a particular bracket, you mean that they come within aparticular range, for example a range of incomes, ages, or prices.

만약 여러분이 누군가 혹은 어떤 것이 특정 집단 안에 있다고 말한다면, 여러분은 그들이 특정한 범위 안에 있다는 것을 의미합니다. 예를 들어, 수입, 연령, 가격 등입니다.

semi-colon

A semi-colon is the punctuation mark ; which is used in writing to separate different parts  

of a sentence or list or to indicate a pause.

세미콜론은 문장이나 목록의 다른 부분을 분리하거나 일시 중지를 나타내는 데 사용되는 

문장 부호입니다.

colon

 A colon is the punctuation mark : which you can use in several ways. For example, you can put itbefore a list of things or before reported speech.

콜론은 여러 가지 방법으로 사용할 수 있는 구두점입니다. 예를 들어, 사물 목록이나 보고된 연설 전에 표시할 수 있습니다.

An exclamation is a sound, word, or sentence that is spoken suddenly, loudly, or emphatically and that expresses excitement, admiration, shock, oranger.

감탄사는 소리, 단어 또는 문장으로, 갑자기, 크게, 또는 강하게 말해지고 흥분, 감탄, 충격 또는 분노를 표현합니다.

A comma is the punctuation mark, which is used to separate parts of a sentence or

items in a list.

쉼표는 문장이나 목록의 항목을 구분하는 데 사용되는 문장 부호입니다.
